Welcome.
Thank you for visiting our website. As covid continues to dictate how we teach our students and care for the health of the public, we find that resilience and adaptivity are vital to a nurse’s ability to pivot and effectively care for our patients. We remain inspired and humbled by the nurses who day in and day out demonstrate caring behaviors in their response to this pandemic.
Our District of Columbia/Maryland League for Nursing continues to adapt as well. Last January, we began the Spring semester with a powerful zoom webinar. As promised, it was a stirring and motivational presentation by Dr. Terry Chase, a nationally known speaker on health and wellness. “Terry” presented, Broken Wings: Integrating Students with Disabilities Into Health Sciences Education, and shared her personal story which took her from healthy active woman to accident victim in a wheelchair to nursing student then nursing educator. She challenged us to examine how we see the issue of disability.
If you missed her presentation, you can hear Terry present our upcoming fall program, Increasing the Grit-Resilience Factor in Professional Nursing Practice and Preparation, to be held on September 22, from 2-4pm EST. It too will be presented via zoom due to the uncertainty of covid transmissibility. Stay tuned for further information!
Our Constituent League began its journey over a century ago and continues our mission today. We are nurse educators because we believe in our capacity to make a positive impact on our students and our profession. Join us, we look forward to working with you.
Respectfully,
Michele Dickson
