It is my honor to welcome you to our website and hope the information you find here will motivate you to join our league. During this time of Covid, I have been amazed and gratified by the countless number of nurses who put their lives on the line and demonstrated caring behaviors as they responded to the pandemic.
I believe that our organization was able to adjust to a world forever changed by Covid as well. We had to postpone a day-long workshop which focused on, Clinical Judgement and Creativity in Nursing Education by the nationally recognized speaker, Dr. Judith Herrman. Instead, we collaborated with the Connecticut League for Nursing (CLN), we sponsored a Zoom webinar which celebrated nursing students and educators and supported their growth. This 3-day webinar offered important access which lasted over a 6-month period.
Our goals for this academic year will include partnering again with the CLN, having a Fall Meet and Greet guided by CDC recommendations and hopefully offering a face-to-face workshop during the spring semester. Visit us for an update on these exciting growth opportunities!
We celebrated the 100-year history of the District of Columbia Constituent League on April 11, 2017 and look forward to the next 100 years. As educators, our focus must be on the future and the many challenges it brings us. Our students will face contemporary issues which past leaders could not have imagined. We are nurse educators because we believe we can make an impact on our profession and the world.
There are many challenges which we as nurse educators are faced with today. Play an active role and join us in this work. I am looking forward to meeting and working with you.
